Trudy Schmalz grew up on a farm near Jordan, Minnesota south of the Twin Cities. She attended and graduated from Concordia University, Seward, Nebraska in December of 1974 with a B.S. in Elementary Education. Her teaching experiences in New York, Nebraska, Missouri, Kansas, and Minnesota have given her the opportunity to teach music at the elementary, high school, and college levels. She considers it a gift to have returned to her alma mater to teach in the music department with her former music professors.
Trudy enjoys traveling, hiking and making music! Her philosophy as a music teacher is that each of us has been given a voice from God. With encouragement and training we can learn to use our voices to sing God's praises. She is willing to work with each student who wants to find their "voice."
Trudy and her husband Joel, a retired pastor, have two grown sons living in Milwaukee and Boston
