Kathy L’Heureux grew up in a very small town Craig, Nebraska. After graduation, Kathy attended University of Nebraska at Kearney and then transferred her sophomore year to attend Concordia University in Seward, NE. Kathy married Mark, her high school sweetheart, the summer of their junior year of college. After graduating with a B.S. Elementary Education in 1997, she took her first call to Pompano Beach, FL where she served as Kindergarten and first grade teacher. After two years and one child later, the family moved back to Seward so that her husband could finish up his Master’s program in Administration.
In 2000, Kathy and her husband took their next call to Central Lutheran School in Newhall, IA where she served as 2nd grade teacher, Athletic Director, and coach. In August of 2007 Kathy graduated with a M.S. Education in School Counseling K-12 from Concordia University-WI. After 7 years in Iowa, the L’Heureuxs then took their next call to Loveland, CO where her husband Mark served as Principal of Immanuel Lutheran School and Kathy served as a School Counselor in Thompson School District, District PBS Coordinator, and District Crisis Response Team.
The summer of 2010, Kathy’s husband Mark was called to serve as South Wisconsin District Education Executive. During this past year Kathy has served as a substitute teacher for various area Lutheran schools. In the meantime she has graduated from the Licensed Professional Counseling Program at CUW and serves as an Adjunct Instructor for the Graduate Counseling Program at CUW.
Kathy is looking forward to beginning her school year with Our Redeemer. She will be busy teaching, as well as serving as Clinical Intern at Family Options Counseling, Inc. this year. Kathy and her husband Mark have four children: Ellie-7th grade, Noah-5th grade, Jack-2nd grade, and Bowen-2 ½.
In her spare time Kathy enjoys working out, coaching volleyball, basketball, softball, and spending time with her family. Her philosophy in everything she does is “Relationships first…business second”. She has a passion for mentoring young adolescents, collaborating with families, parents, and teachers, and working towards helping each child feel successful!
