Connecting OTHERS to Christ is the theme for the 2008-2009 school year. There are so many ways to apply these words to our everyday lives as we realize Christ is the only solid foundation on which we stand. Upon realizing that, the desire of sharing Jesus with others begins to naturally fill our hearts. As I look at God's hand at work in my life, connecting me to the people and places He has desired, I see this theme come to life. I am thankful that each and every step has been an opportunity to bring glory to HIm!
I have been connected to Our Redeemer my entire life. I was baptized in this church in 1968. My father, Bob Burger, was a teacher here and so I grew up a “teacher’s kid”. I clearly remember one of my teachers telling me I should be a teacher and how much that comment meant to me. I went to Milwaukee Lutheran High School (where I met my future husband) and from there attended Concordia University in Seward, Nebraska. After graduation, I returned to Milwaukee Lutheran High School and over the next 7 years filled the roles of an English teacher, Volleyball and Track Coach, Yearbook Advisor and Student Activities Director. I stepped away from teaching in 1998 to raise my children.
Bill and I were married in December 1991, here at Our Redeemer. We have been blessed with four children, all of whom have been baptized, at Our Redeemer. Sydney is in 6th grade, Jesse is in 5th grade, Lyndsey is in 4th grade and Jayme is in 2nd grade.
This church and school are a foundational part of me! I feel truly blessed to have the opportunity to step back into teaching here at Our Redeemer! One of my favorite verses says, “I, the Lord, will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go: I will counsel you with my eye upon you.” Psalm 32:8. God’s promises are worth holding on to and prove time and time again to be so much more than you can ever imagine!
May God bless YOU as you are made aware of ways that you and your faith are "Connected in Christ" and therefore allowing you to "Connect OTHERS to Christ".
