Katie Alexander grew up in West Allis, WI and attended Hales Corners Lutheran Elementary School and Martin Luther High School. She was baptized and confirmed at Hales Corners Lutheran Church and was a member there before joining Our Redeemer Lutheran this summer. Katie graduated summa cum laude from Concordia University Wisconsin in Mequon, WI in December 2010 with a B.A. in Elementary Education and a minor in English/ Language Arts.
Before graduating, she was blessed to student teach with 1st grade at Wilson Elementary in Mequon, WI and 5th grade at St. John’s Lutheran in West Bend, WI. In the time after graduation, Katie gained additional experience substituting in several Lutheran schools in the area such as Hales Corners Lutheran Middle School and Zion Lutheran in Menomonee Falls, WI. In addition, she spent several days a week working as a teacher’s aide in the 4K classroom at Zion Lutheran.
Katie feels delighted and extremely blessed to begin her ministry at Our Redeemer Lutheran by teaching 3rd grade. She anticipates the many wonderful experiences to be had and will look to Colossians 3:12 as inspiration for working with each unique child of God. Students in her classroom will be encouraged and reminded to work together and “serve one another in love” as highlighted in Galatians 5:13.
In her spare time, Katie greatly enjoys camping, baking, reading, live music, and spending time with her family and friends. Being a Wisconsin native, she is also a huge Green Bay Packer fan! She just moved into an apartment in New Berlin and will enjoy settling in and decorating. Katie is very close with her parents, Mark and Joan, as well as her older sister, Jenny.
Katie’s favorite Bible verse comes from Philippians 4:6 which reads, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” To Him be all the glory!
