Classroom News January 23-27th , 2012
Things are really moving along in 3rd grade! There will be lots of activities and news in the coming weeks.
· We would like to remind and invite you to attend the 3rd Grade Chapel Service on Wednesday, January 25th at 8:40 a.m. in the church. This service is entitled “The Good Shepherd” and will involve participation from each student in some way! It will be a blessed morning of praise to our savior!
· We are singing in church on Sunday, February 5th at the beginning of the 9:30am service and the beginning of 11:00am. Please meet in the fellowship hall on this date at 9:15am and 10:45am. Please make sure your child wears appropriate church clothes. Thanks!
· Please take a look at the attached sheet for information on the upcoming 3rd grade Spanish lunch on February 3rd. We will also be sending home a hard copy for your convenience.
· We are participating in the National A.R. Challenge with Lutheran schools across the nation. The A.R. tests that the students take will go towards our 3rd grade total. This will begin on January 30th and run through March 9th. Let’s keep reading those A.R. books!
· Keep encouraging your child to read and fill in their Book It calendar! They can also use the minutes they put on their Book It calendar for the Six Flags Read to Succeed Six Hour Reading Club log that was sent home last Friday. Each student has the chance to earn a free admission ticket for the theme park. The Book it calendar should be turned in at the end of January, while the Read to Succeed log is due on Tuesday, February 21st.
· Please remember to sign-up for the Mad Science class which will begin on Thursday, January 26th from 3:35-4:35pm and will continue for the following four weeks (Feb. 2,9,16, & 23). Additional information is located on the form that was sent home with your child. Please make note that the registration forms can be mailed directly to Mad Science. You can also sign-up online! Ask Miss Alexander for an additional copy if need be.
As always, thanks for your help and support! J

Memory Work- (Monthly Bible Verse)
Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
