3rd Grade News: December 5-9th
What wonderful messengers of the Gospel the 3rd graders were this past Wednesday! God certainly was shining through them.
Here's what's coming up next week!
Classroom News December 5th- 9th 2011
Our Advent service, “The King of Love”, was a great success! It had a meaningful, Christian message for all to enjoy! The 3rd graders, along with 4th and 5th graders, did a marvelous job with their voices and smiling faces! We thank you and your child for helping with costumes and for joining us in worship!
· The next 3rd grade book report will be done in class on Thursday, December 8th. Please remind your child to have his/her book read and here at school by that date. We will continue to remind them as well. This book report will be 3 paragraphs and have a beginning, middle, and end.
· Your 3rd grader will need a canned good to use for our parent Christmas gift. Please bring in some type of unused canned good for your student to use by Thursday, December 7th. We will use this as a base to set our project on. It will be returned to you after we have completed our project! J
· Keep encouraging your child to read and fill in their Book It calendar! You should have received the green December calendar so they can keep track of this month’s reading minutes to earn a coupon.
· Our next field trip will take place on Wednesday, December 7th. We will enjoy a performance of “Junie B. in Jingle Bells” at the First Stage Theatre in Milwaukee. Please remember to send a cold lunch to school that day with your child since we will have to eat earlier in the day and will be unable to have access to hot lunch. We are leaving at 11:15am and will return at 2:00pm.The pre-workshop for this experience will take place on December 6th in the morning and the post-workshop will take place on December 13th at the same time. We can’t wait to enjoy all three of these events!
· Instead of exchanging gifts with one another, we would like to have the 3rd graders collect baby items for A Place of Refuge. It is a Lutheran organization in the Milwaukee area for unwed mothers and their babies. Some suggestions are clothing, diapers, and blankets. Let’s give generously to the little ones! Please put your gift under our classroom’s Christmas tree!
· Pastor Schroeder will be visiting the 3rd graders this Thursday, December 8th to discuss Christian hymns and their meanings! We always enjoy a visitor!
