Classroom News November 28th- December 2nd, 2011
We have been busy practicing for our Advent service entitled, “The King of Love”! The 3rd graders look forward to sharing this message with you on Wednesday, November 30th at 6:30pm. REMEMBER that they should come dressed in their attire to school that day for the dress rehearsal taking place during chapel time.
· For the advent service, Mrs. Schmalz is asking that each boy wear a plain colored bathrobe and towel wrapped with a rope for his head. Girls are asked to wear a white top, blouse, or sweater. This could be worn over a dress or other chosen outfit. Each child will need to wear these respective outfits for the school dress rehearsal that same school day and for the advent service that evening. Students should arrive by 6:15pm in their classroom.
· The next 3rd grade book report will be done in class on Thursday, December 8th. Please remind your child to have his/her book read and here at school by that date. We will continue to remind them as well. This book report will be 3 paragraphs and have a beginning, middle, and end.
· If your 3rd grade participated, please return their yellow Book It calendar for November so that we can reward them with their free personal pan pizza coupon for Pizza Hut! We will be sending home the green December calendar so they can keep track of that month’s reading minutes as well to earn a coupon.
· Our next field trip will take place on Wednesday, December 7th. We will enjoy a performance of “Junie B. in Jingle Bells” at the First Stage Theatre in Milwaukee. Please remember to send a cold lunch to school that day with your child since we will have to eat earlier in the day and will be unable to have access to hot lunch. We are leaving at 11:15am and will return at 2:00pm.The pre-workshop for this experience will take place on December 6th in the morning and the post-workshop will take place on December 13th at the same time.
· Due to their hard work and positive attitudes, the 3rd grade classes have been awarded a Pajama Day which will take place on Friday, December 2nd! On this day, students can wear their PJ’s and bring a pillow, sleeping bag, or blanket. They will use these comfy materials during silent reading time as they prepare for their book report AND A.R. goal!
· Instead of exchanging gifts with one another, we would like to have the 3rd graders collect baby items for A Place of Refuge. It is a Lutheran organization in the Milwaukee area for unwed mothers and their babies. Some suggestions are clothing, diapers, and blankets. Let’s give generously to the little ones! Please put your gift under our classroom’s Christmas tree!
· Miss Alexander is looking for a Christmas tree to put in her classroom! If you have an old mini or regular size Christmas tree that is not being used, consider donating or lending your tree to her! Other ornaments or Christmas decorations would be welcome as well! Send her an e-mail if you have any donations! Thank you!
Thanks for your prayers and support! God’s Blessings to you!

Memory Work – (monthly Bible verse)
Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ. For we were all baptized by one Spirit so as to form one body.
