Classroom News
Nov. 14-18th
Nov. 21-22, 2011
We had an enjoyable time learning about the planets and constellations at the Wauwatosa West Planetarium. Ask your child what they learned! Thank you to Mrs. Goodman, Mrs. Merkel, Mr. Sabree, Mrs. Brophy, and Mr. Hurst for joining us on this solar system adventure!
Thank you also for joining us for student-led conferences this past week. What a great opportunity for the 3rd graders to share their growing progress with you! Thank you for your involvement!
· Encourage your child to continue working on the yellow Book-It 600 minute recording sheet that was sent home. Please return this by the end of November for a free personal pan pizza coupon for Pizza Hut if you wish to participate!
· Our next field trip will take place on Wednesday, December 7th. We will enjoy a performance of “Junie B. in Jingle Bells” at the First Stage Theatre in Milwaukee. In addition to this performance, we will have a pre and post performance workshop at school led by First Stage artists. You will receive the permission slip on Monday and are asked to return it with the money on November 18th. All students will be asked to bring a cold lunch with a drink on December 7th because we have to eat lunch early before we leave for the performance.
· Be sure to remember that our advent service is quickly approaching. It will take place on Wednesday, November 30th at 6:30pm. Mrs. Schmalz is asking that each boy wear a plain colored bathrobe and towel wrapped with a rope for his head. Girls are asked to wear dresses. Each child will need to wear their respective outfit for the school dress rehearsal that day and the advent service that night. Students should arrive by 6:15pm in their classroom.

Memory Work – recited on Nov. 17th(*no memory during week of Thanksgiving)
Worthy are You, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for You created all things, and by Your will they existed and were created. Revelation 4:11
For in Christ Jesus you are all sons of God, through faith. Galatians 3:26
Singing in Church-November 13th
(Children are asked to sit with their parents during the service)
*We are also hosting the coffee hour on that Sunday. The room mothers will contact you with help that is needed.
**Grades 3 & 4 are singing at the 8:00 and 9:30 services on Sunday, November 13th. We will meet in the Fellowship Hall at 8:30 to warm-up for the closing song of the 8:00 service, then after singing we’ll proceed back downstairs to warm-up again at 9:15 for the 9:30 service. We will then sing at the beginning of the 9:30 service.
Any absences must have a note of excuse (written on paper or emailed) to us during the week before we sing. Obviously there are times of sickness or emergency, but we will still need a note. Please encourage your students to wear “good clothes”…slacks and a shirt for the boys and a dress or skirt and top for the girls.
Thank you! Hope to see you there!
