W.O.W. Words!
WONDERFUL OUTSTANDING WORDS!
One of our bulletin boards is getting pretty full of W.O.W. words from our third graders! As students are exposed to Wonderful Outstanding Words, they are able to write them on our bulletin board. Some of our W.O.W. words include: divergent, digested, extravaganza, disobedient, exhausting, envious, distinguishable, disintegrate and counterintelligence! Our list continues to grow! If you and your child come across W.O.W. words as you read or when you are in the car, please have your child write the word down on a piece of paper and bring it to school. Once the correct spelling is verified, the word can be written on the bulletin board! The words from this bulletin board can then be used by students as they begin various writing assignments.

Penny graduated from Concordia University in Ann Arbor with a BA in education in 1991. She spent two years teaching Junior High science, math, and art as 8th Grade Homeroom teacher at St. Mark Lutheran School in Brunswick, Ohio. From St. Mark, Penny accepted a call to teach math for 5th through 8th grade at St. Paul Lutheran School in Westlake, Ohio for just one year before returning to Ann Arbor in 1995. Second to being a "full time mom" for nine years, Penny filled in where needed after moving to St. Paul, Ann Arbor. Some of her most rewarding teaching time was spent teaching afternoon kindergarten and algebra.
Penny began an exciting adventure teaching the 4K Preschool class at Our Redeemer in the fall of 2004 and enjoyed every minute of it for 3 years! In addition to teaching 4K in the afternoon, Penny also taught Transitional Math to 7th and 8th graders and the Enrichment Class for students at higher learning levels.
In the fall of 2008, Penny will begin her second year of teaching 3rd grade with Mrs. Voigt. Practice makes perfect!
Penny and her husband, Jim, have three children: Austin (grade 8), Christian (grade 5), and Katherine (grade 3). In addition to spending time with her family, Penny enjoys scrapbooking, triathlons, coffee shops and Chipotle! Her family enjoys bike riding, geocashing, camping, and rock climbing!
