Welcome to 3K
It has been a very busy fall in 3K. We have been working hard on writing our names every day. We are just about through featuring weekly colors and shapes and are about to move on to featuring a weekly letter and eventually a weekly number too. We will focus on identifying uppercase letter names and will continue to pracice counting to 20 and beyond. We will continue to work on number recognition and counting with a 1-to-1 correspondence. We continue to use the "Ten Little Pumpkins" chart to point and count ten pumpkins and then count them backwards too. I will send these home before Thanksgiving so you can have fun practicing with them.
The children have really enjoyed our fall songs and fingerplays. I hope they have shared them with you. Did they "Boo!" you? :) I also hope you are able to enjoy a snuggle time together with your child and a good book every day. Reading books with your child stimulates their intellect and is the best way to prepare them to be future readers. Better yet, it is a great way to bond with your child and makes wonderful memories for both of you to treasure. Pick books that interest them and let their attention span guide you. Some children will sit for several books while others might barely enjoy one. Most important is that you have fun together.
The children have enjoyed our circle time stories, songs and fingerplays. In Jesus Time we have heard how God helps us do hard things in the stories of David and Goliath, Jonah, Esther, and Daniel and the Lions Den.
This group of children have a wonderful interest in doing puzzles and I am amazed at the great collaboration, communication, and cooperation that is developing as they work together to accomplish them. It is pretty neat to see!
I hope your family will be blessed by taking time to pause for "thanks-giving" before the holiday hustle. I am thankful for the 14 wonderful students I am blessed to work with each week.
Serving a great God! Mrs. Statza :)
