Welcome to 3K at Our Redeemer Lutheran School. Preschool hours are 8:30 - 11:00. Children may enter the building at 8:15. Child care is available for children who arrive before 8:15 or who stay beyond 11:00. Our preschool is run as a co-op program where each family is required to provide an adult volunteer in the classroom every month. A sign-up sheet is posted in the hallway across from our classroom door where families can reserve their volunteer dates. The daily snack is provided by the co-op volunteer and is brought on their volunteer day. In class, we focus on developing our social and language skills and on becoming comfortable functioning in a classroom setting. Communication and language skills are fostered as we engage in activities based on shapes, colors, counting and name recognition. Later in the year we also work on letter and number identification. During our daily circle time, the children hear a fun story based on the weekly theme and participate in action rhymes, fingerplays and songs. After snack, we set aside a little time each day to draw, look at books or work on puzzles individually or in cooperative groups. Each week we visit the library for a special storytime and opportunity to check out a book. We also go to the gym once a week for large movement activities. Jesus Time is an important part of everyday as we focus on a new Bible story each week. On Wednesdays we have a chapel service that is specially designed for our preschool children. My goals for our 3K students are that they will know Jesus is their best friend, that they will like school, and that they find that learning is fun and they can be successful!
