News from Mrs. Sapiro’s 4th Grade
First Week of the New Year
Note to Parents: The time has finally arrived! Christmas is really here. I don’t know about you, but it seems to have gotten here quickly this year.
We want to give Heidi Reimer and Dana Wegner a HUGE thank you for organizing and working with the kids on the parent gift. We also want to thank the helper elves Todd Wegner and Sue Doherty. The kids are so excited to give this gift. They really worked hard and can take pride in a job well-done. I hope you enjoy them.
The only assignment the class will have for the break is to find 3 people to talk to about the Christmas story. They are to look for someone who could hear the message of our Savior’s birth. They will have an opportunity to share their experiences when we come back in the New Year.
In the hustle and bustle of the Christmas vacation, be sure to spend precious quiet time with each other. Take time to connect and see how your 4th grader is really growing. I have been able to witness so many changes in them already!
May you all have a very Merry Christmas!

Week of October 13 – 15
Note to Parents: It was wonderful to see so many of you at the PTL Open House Monday night. Thank you for coming! If you were unable to make it, please be sure you got the Parent Handbook and PTL Parent Survey from your family messenger.
We have Grandparent’s Day this Friday and the 4th graders can’t wait! It is always an exciting day. Our class has been working hard to create a little booklet for our visiting grandparents and have done a fabulous job! We certainly hope they enjoy them and the day. I have already talked to the class, but to let you know as well, I am unable to be at school for Grandparent’s Day this year because my sister is getting married in southern Illinois on Saturday. Mrs. Ladendorf will be filling in for me, so the class will be in good hands. Please let me know if there are any questions about the day.
The PTL Pizza Fundraiser ends this Wednesday, October 15. If you haven’t heard, we had an exciting week with a sausage race (watch the Tosa Times for upcoming pictures and article) and pizza trivia each day. The race was an energetic start to the day. We’ll pray for “recovery” of our Polish sausage racerJ Please consider helping out on the pizza assembly day, October 25. Last year was a good time!

Mrs. Denise Kegley is an eight-year veteran second grade teacher. She enjoys the challenges and celebrations of this age group. The children are enthusiastic for Jesus, eager to learn and enjoy the occasional joke. Mrs. Kegley has previously taught first grade and the four and three-year-old programs at Our Redeemer Lutheran. During her years at Our Redeemer, Mrs. Kegley earned her colloquy from Concordia University Wisconsin (2003) and her Master's Degree in early childhood education from CUW (1999). Before joining the Our Redeemer staff, she taught at Oklahoma Avenue Lutheran in Milwaukee and Good Shepherd Lutheran in East Troy, WI. Mrs. Kegley's home congregation is Our Redeemer Lutheran in Delavan, Wisconsin. Mrs. Kegley graduated from UW-Whitewater with a Bachelor's in Early Childhood Education way back in 1990. Mrs. Kegley was Early Childhood Lutheran Teacher of the Year 2011 through LCMS South Wisconsin District.
Mrs. Kegley's husband is Dustin and he is a City of Milwaukee employee. They were married in 1993 at Our Redeemer Lutheran in Delavan. They enjoy their family, bowling, Brewer games, movies and gardening. They have a spoiled cat named Oreo who runs the house!
Mrs. Kegley plays the bagpipes in two local bands: Celtic Nations Pipes and Drums and the Greater Milwaukee Fire and Police Pipes and Drums. She served on the executive board for the Fire and Police band for five years as treasurer and then as secretary. She competed with the Fire and Police band in 2010 and 2011. The Fire and Police band participated in the National Law Enforcement Memorial in Washington, D.C. in 2008. In 2010, the band also participated in the International Fire Fighter Association Memorial, in Colorado. While playing with Celtic Nations Pipes and Drums, Mrs. Kegley helped the band earn awards in competitions in 2008 and 2009. When she isn't grading papers, you will find her playing her bagpipes!
Mrs. Kegley also plays viola. She spent many years in the Beloit-Janesville Symphony Orchestra and the Menomonee Falls Symphony. Now she plays with the Our Redeemer Music Ministry and any additional services when requested. It is a joy to serve the Lord through music! God gives the heart a voice to sound its joy and calls it music. God gives all gifts and talents, He has trusted in Mrs. Kegley to share that joy with the people around her.
