What is a T.E.A.M. Notebook?
This explains our notebook use in second grade. It is a way to keep items organized and away from the bottom of our backpack!!
What is the BEE Binder?
B.E.E. stands for BRING EVERYTHING EVERYDAY. It is our way of staying organized in second grade. This binder is your child’s tool to becoming an organized student. It contains a few items which the second grade teachers felt would be important for the children to have. Those items are:
1. Pencil pouch for little items (flash cards, offering envelopes, etc.)
2. Homework folder to bring homework home in and return back to school in.
3. Reading log to record nightly reading activity.
4. Classroom rules and consequences.
5. Lunch menu.
6. Second grade WORD WALL WORDS (words we must spell on our own).
7. Perhaps a few other items in plastic “sleeves” as the year goes.
What do we do with the BEE Binder?
The BEE Binder must come to school daily and go home daily in order to be effective. This is a step up from the “Take Home Folders” of first grade. Teachers will be looking for the binder right away in the morning because it should contain completed homework to be turned in. Parents will be looking for the binder in the evening to read important notes (Classroom Newsletter and News & Notes), find homework to work on, find books to read, and to place important little items in (lunch money or field trip money envelope in the pencil pouch).
What if my child misplaces the binder?
You and your child will be responsible for replacing it and the plastic sleeves immediately. The first set of plastic sleeves were provided by the classroom teacher.
What if my child forgets the binder at home or in the car?
The BEE Binder is an important tool to bring to SCHOOL, it is designed to help everyone stay organized. The students will decide, as a class, what the consequence will be when the notebook is not brought to school.
