Happy New Year, Families!
Since our Christmas Party was snowed out, we will be celebrating on the 12th day of Christmas (Tues., Jan. 6th). All students should wear (or bring) some green clothing for our annual 'Battleball Tournament' (we decided that our 7G team will be the Gobeli Grinches). Students may bring in snacks or treats, if they wish. We will party from 2:00 p.m. until the end of the day.
The Our Redeemer Basketball Tournament is approaching quickly! Here's some information I've been asked to share with you:
- Each 7th grader should bring (as a donation) 6 20-oz. bottles of orange gatorade. These will be sold at the concession stand during the tournament. These bottles should be brought to the classroom for storage.
- Opportunities to earn service hours in both the concession stand abound! Even if your student has earned all of his/her service hours, they can still work in the concession stand for the following shifts:
Thursday: 3:30-6:00 p.m. or 6:00-9:00 p.m.
Friday: 3:30-5:30 p.m. or 5:30-7:30 p.m.

3. Mr. Rick Drida is looking for students who might be interested in serving as
'cameramen' or 'camerawomen'. These students would be filming the
basketball games that are played during the tournament. Interested? Contact
Mr. Drida at 414-873-6794.
On Friday morning, the 7th graders will be celebrating Miss Edmonds's successful completion of her student teaching. Mrs. Soderbeck mentioned that the 7th graders should feel free to bring in a snack or treat to share. Perhaps they may wish to bring a small gift (fun pen color to correct with or a package of post-it notes, or a package of stickers, etc.) to share with Miss Edmonds.
Friday is the final day of the second quarter.

May you and your family enjoy a blessed Thanksgiving celebration. We have a God who loves us so much...we all truly have so much to be thankful for. Enjoy your time and remember to set aside time for HIM, too!
We continue working on drawing techniques. We will begin drawing our still lifes soon! Anyone out there willing to loan our class any cowboy-related objects? We would return them in EXCELLENT condition...we just need to look at them! :)
8th grade students are continuing to work on their Dale Chihuly-inspired sculptures, using all POLYMERS (well...except for the markers we're using to add color). These are small, but fun! You can check out an interview with Dale Chihuly on youtube.com; we watched the interview clip that was about 8:30 in length.
- BIBLE LISTENING STICKS WILL BE INTRODUCED AND GIVEN OUT AT CHAPEL ON WEDNESDAY. STUDENTS NEED TO HAVE THEIR LISTENING STICKS AT SCHOOL WITH THEM EVERY DAY UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.
- Thank you, parents, for sharing time with your child during last week's conferences. I really enjoyed each student's heartfelt 'Thanksliving' piece; what a wonderful group of young people!
- FIELD TRIP (cache and trash) on Tuesday! Who would've believed that we'd be enjoying a 70 degree day? God is SO good.
- Band members need to bring their instruments on Wednesday, as group band will be meeting on Wednesday this week.
- NO SCHOOL ON WEDNESDAY OR THURSDAY THIS WEEK (due to church workers' conference).
- Basketball practice begins this week; many students had "getting work done on time" set as a goal for this next quarter...perhaps a reminder from your home will be the encouragement they need to achieve that goal! I'll be sure to remind them on this end. :)

I grew up in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin and was confirmed at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. As there were no Lutheran schools in the area, I attended Sun Prairie public schools through high school and especially enjoyed band, science and art classes. Upon graduating, I continued my education at the University of Wisconsin and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education with science as an area of specialization.
My first classroom teaching experience was with the Milwaukee Jewish Day School, where I taught 4th and 5th grade secular classes; sitting in on Judaica (Jewish history) classes helped my knowledge of the Old Testament grow. My husband, Scott, and I joined Our Savior's Evangelical Lutheran Church where our Christian faith was nourished and strengthened.
Through our children, God led us to Our Redeemer Lutheran School. Once our youngest child began first grade, God moved me to return to teaching. Since becoming part of the Our Redeemer family, I completed course work through Concordia University and now work as a called church worker. Our children have graduated from Our Redeemer and Milwaukee Lutheran High School. Our oldest currently attends the University of Minnesota and our youngest is a freshman at Trinity Christian College.
